This page explains how we make the courses, guides and downloads on Train Your Skills, where AI tools come into that work, and how money does and does not affect what we publish.

How we make what we publish

Each course and guide starts from a skill people need at work and the questions they ask while learning it. We plan the lessons and the articles around those questions, then write, test the exercises and rewrite until each piece does one job clearly.

Facts, figures and quotes are checked against their original source before anything goes live, and the main sources are listed at the end of each guide. We prefer a few strong sources to a long list, and we say so when the evidence is mixed or still developing.

Pages show the date they were last updated. Tools and platforms change quickly, so we revise courses and guides when what they describe has changed.

How we use AI

We use AI tools while researching, organising notes, drafting and polishing language. People choose the topics, decide what each piece argues, rewrite the drafts and check every factual claim against its source. Nothing is published by an AI tool on its own.

All images on this site are made with AI. That includes the illustrations on guides and articles, the course artwork and the graphics in our downloads. They are there to illustrate ideas. None of them is a photograph of a real person, place, product or event.

The tests at the end of each lesson are written and reviewed by us. Scoring them is automatic.

Money and independence

The courses, guides and downloads are free. Train Your Skills earns money from optional certificates and the Annual Pass, and may later offer paid courses.

We may have financial interests in some of the tools, services or companies mentioned in our courses and guides, for example through affiliate programmes or other commercial relationships. Those interests do not decide what we recommend or how we describe a product. We name tools because we think they help with the skill being taught, and we point out their limits as well as their strengths.

We do not publish paid placements dressed up as editorial content.
